Healthcare Apps: Just What the Doctor Ordered

Earlier this year, Kaiser Permanente announced a bold initiative to ensure that patients will have access to health records on the go. Personal records will be available on mobile devices ensuring that patients and their doctors will have immediate access to potentially lifesaving information. Immediate access to these types of information could potentially aid in early diagnosis, advanced medical treatments and a speedy recovery time for patients, as doctors would be better equipped to monitor the progression of illnesses.

While CDF is encouraged by the explosion of healthcare related apps, and the benefits they bring to patients across the country, Congress and the FCC need to work together to make sure that there is an adequate amount of spectrum to ensure the reliability of these products. It is absolutely imperative that measures be taken to ensure that spectrum be allocated in a manner that creates the most opportunity for innovative companies to continue to operate and create new mobile apps.
